Nightshade
Nightshade, Stained-Glass Light
40cm x 40cm (framed in black hardwood) Stained Glass Panel illuminated with LED light (2023)
Nightshade imagines a nymph-like figure growing within an underground ecosystem, her form composed of glowing spores and vegetal matter. Referencing the nightshade plant family, especially the potato, the work reflects on Ireland’s histories of famine, colonisation and survival. Nightshade proposes a future grounded in adaptation and ancestral knowledge. It embraces an independent post-colonial identity formed through deep connection to land, memory and more-than-human worlds.
